E-commerce team growth and upskilling

February 2025

A fast-growing e-commerce software company needed to scale its team with engineers who could master a proprietary deep learning tool and deliver results in front of customers — fast. New Elevation sourced and trained two early-career engineers through a five-week program, and both were billing on high-profile client engagements ahead of schedule.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The client needed to scale their team and train new members on a proprietary e-commerce tool to maintain high-quality service.

As a rapidly growing software company with a long list of clients, this technology leader needed to add new members to its team and train them on its proprietary e-commerce tool. The tool uses deep learning models to interpret user intent, allowing clients to automate business rules based on behavioral data, such as search history and clicks. To bring this product to customers, the client needed seasoned software engineers who not only understood the tool and the technology behind it, but also possessed the interpersonal skills required to impress customers. Ultimately, our client needed to scale its teams, develop an efficient and effective onboarding process to ensure new hires could hit the ground running, and ensure consistent quality despite minimal internal training resources.

Our Approach

Our Approach

New Elevation partnered with the client to find, train, and support high-performing software engineers for their e-commerce tool.

This client partnered with New Elevation to find, train, mentor, and support high-performing early career software engineers to join its team. Two consultants with bachelor’s degrees in computer science and can-do attitudes joined the team as future developers, despite having no prior experience with the client’s proprietary tool. To set these associates up for success, New Elevation leveraged the client’s proprietary training and an onsite SME for a five-week training and shadowing program. The New Elevation consultants completed the training more quickly than expected and were immediately placed on client-facing projects as e-commerce tool developers, performing at the same level as full-time employees. Both associates were deployed on the client customer engagements almost immediately too, managing both technology and customer-facing elements of the work.

The Results

The Results

The client saw significant success with the trained developers, who became valuable members of their team and excelled in customer projects.

Our client’s New Elevation partnership was a great success. The New Elevation developers quickly progressed into billable customer work for multiple high-profile engagements, consistently receiving high praise from the client for their high performance and positive attitudes. Today, our consultants continue to work on two to three client projects simultaneously as experts in this client’s proprietary e-commerce tool, having established themselves as valued members of the client’s professional services teams. The client intends to leverage New Elevation’s right-to-offer program and extend full-time offers to both consultants following their successful assignments.
